This depends on the level and age of the student and how fast they want to progress. The most important thing is that practice (even a little bit) happens every day and that weekly assignments are completed. This is how long it will normally take to practice typical assignments:

  • Young students enrolled in mini-musicians: 5 minutes,      regular singing/listening to music with grown-ups
  • Young musicians and beginners enrolled in lessons:      10-15 minutes per day
  • Elementary students: 15-20 minutes per day
  • Intermediate students: 20 - 40 minutes per day
  • Advanced students: 45-60 minutes per day

You will never need to order any books -- all books will be ordered through our studio!

We use lots of different books and methods to suit and cater to needs of each student individually but some of our most commonly used methods include the Piano Pronto!, Piano Safari, Alfred, and the Michael Aaron series. We are constantly researching new materials and expanding our library to find pieces that inspire our students!

Very soon, we will be opening up our Infant and Toddler course, in which we will work with infants and their grown-ups. Our mini-musicians course is geared towards 3's through 5's.

Yes! Getting to share music with others is one of the rewarding facets of music-making and learning an instrument.

Our studio performs twice per year in various venues and environments. Our performance experiences are optional, encouraged and very warm, positive experiences for all. This year due to COVID restrictions, our performances will be virtual!

Students of the West End Music Room learn all kinds of music. We teach any and all genres of music that a student wants to learn. Nothing is off the menu!

Although some classical music is generally necessary for good progress to be made, students are no means limited to classical. Our students learn and play all kinds of genres of music and many enjoy writing their own!

All lessons are paid for by the month, at the beginning of each month and payments can be made by PayPal, Venmo or check.
